Leaves behind: Two daughters, ages six and 22, and one adult son. Also his girlfriend Courteney Ross. 

Location of Death: Minneapolis, Minnesota @ approximately 8PM

Murderers: Minneapolis Police Department Officers Derek Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng

A Little About Big Floyd:

After a 5 year jail sentence, George Floyd decided to leave his hometown of Houston, Texas’ 3rd Ward and move to Minneapolis, Minnesota in search of a new life, new job, and a fresh start. Many around his part of Minneapolis knew him as a “gentle giant” and his brother was quoted saying their mother always called him her “freak of nature.” George, better known as “Big Floyd” to those in the community, was a lovable guy who worked as security at a local business and frequented many other businesses.

On May 25, 2020, a 911 call was placed to the Minneapolis Police Department who sent the four officers listed above to arrest Mr. Floyd around 8pm. Video surveillance shows the officers beating Mr. Floyd in the back of a police truck and eyewitness video shows Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling knee-to-neck on Mr. Floyd as he lay helplessly pleading for his life and calling out for his mother. After more than 8 minutes, Mr. Floyd’s unconscious body was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Multiple autopsy reports ruled the death a homicide which lead to the arrest of all 4 officers involved as of today, June 3rd, 2020. We will continue to follow the story and provide updates as more details emerge. In the meantime, continue the good fight and always remember... NO LIVES MATTER UNTIL BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!
